According to foreign media reports, Singapore LNG (SLNG), the LNG terminal operator, has started construction of a third jetty at its Jurong Island terminal. Once operational, the jetty is expected to increase SLNG’s LNG bunkering capacity to 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). The new jetty is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2028 and will be able to handle LNG carriers ranging from 5,800 to 80,000 cubic meters.

Unlike SLNG’s existing jetties, the third jetty will be dedicated to small and medium-sized vessels, enabling the terminal to handle more LNG bunkering reloads and breakbulk operations. Once in operation, the jetty can support about 2 mtpa of LNG bunkering reload demand, while the overall infrastructure’s handling capacity can reach up to 3 mtpa.

SLNG CEO Leong Wei Hung said that as LNG bunkering demand continues to grow, the third jetty will strengthen Singapore’s ability to support the next phase of growth.

In addition, SLNG has obtained ISCC EU certification to handle liquefied biomethane (LBM) at its terminal. The certification covers storage, regasification, bunkering and trucking operations, enabling customers to track and account for certified LBM handled through the facility. The new jetty will also be capable of handling LBM, providing SLNG with additional flexibility to support demand for lower-emission fuels.
