In January and February this year, Hudong-Zhonghua successively signed contracts with MISC for the first batch of three and the second batch of two 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers, laying a solid foundation for long-term and in-depth cooperation between the two sides. The finalization of these five new vessels fully demonstrates MISC’s high recognition of Hudong-Zhonghua’s R&D and design, construction quality, and contract performance capabilities. From January to October this year, Hudong-Zhonghua has won orders for 15 LNG carriers in total, with production slots booked beyond 2030, demonstrating its leadership in the international LNG carrier construction sector.

The 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers signed in this contract are Hudong-Zhonghua’s independently developed fifth-generation “Changheng” series, equipped with the NO96 Super+ cargo containment system. They meet the latest IGC Code and IMO emission reduction requirements and integrate safety and reliability, green energy efficiency, and operational economy.

The ship type incorporates multiple low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, with outstanding advantages in cargo storage and transportation, overall energy consumption, and route adaptability, fully matching international shipowners’ long-term LNG capacity deployment needs. The batch commercial application of this ship type will continue to consolidate the supporting capacity of China’s domestic LNG carrier industrial chain and drive the coordinated development of upstream and downstream supporting industries.
