NYK acquires stake in Avenir LNG and forms LNG bunkering joint venture with Stolt‑Nielsen Gas Ltd
Recently, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) announced that, having obtained all necessary regulatory approvals, it has completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in Avenir LNG from Stolt‑Nielsen Gas Ltd., forming a joint venture with Stolt‑Nielsen Limited for LNG bunkering.

Stolt‑Nielsen Gas Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stolt‑Nielsen Limited, previously held 100% of Avenir LNG.
Following the transaction, Avenir LNG is now jointly owned by NYK and Stolt‑Nielsen Limited, establishing a joint operational framework for this LNG bunkering enterprise.
Avenir LNG specializes in LNG bunkering and operates one of the world’s largest fleets of LNG bunkering vessels.
As the shipping industry transitions toward lower‑emission fuels, the joint venture will explore market opportunities in the LNG and bio‑LNG bunkering segments.
